Operations and Development Director:

Job Description:  

We are seeking a highly organized and self-motivated individual to join our team as the Operations and Development Director. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of the organization, as well as supporting our development and fundraising efforts.  

Key Responsibilities:  

Operations:  

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization, ensuring that all systems and processes are running efficiently and effectively.  

  • Coordinate and schedule meetings, events, and other activities, as well as ensure that all necessary materials and equipment are prepared in advance.  

  • Manage the organization's finances and budget, including tracking expenses, preparing financial reports, and working with the organization's accountant to ensure that all financial records are accurate and up-to-date.  
      

Development and Fundraising:  

  • Assist in the development and implementation of the organization's fundraising plan  

  • Research and identify potential funding sources, including foundations, corporations, and individual donors  

  • Draft grant proposals, sponsorship letters, and other fundraising materials  

  • Help to build and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, and other stakeholders  

  • Help to plan and coordinate fundraising events, including galas, silent auctions, and other special events  

  • Track and report on fundraising progress and performance, and make recommendations for improvements  

  • Help to ensure that all contributions are acknowledged and recorded in a timely and accurate manner  

  • Provide support to the leadership team as needed

Qualifications:  

  • Passion for the mission and values of the organization.   

  • Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business administration, or a related field (and/or) have 5+ years of relevant work experience.  

  • At least 2 years of experience in nonprofit operations and development, including experience with grant writing and fundraising.  

  • Strong organizational and project management skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.  

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Canva and Quickbooks.  

  • Knowledge of financial management, budgeting, and accounting principles.  

  
This is a full-time position and the ideal candidate should be available to work Monday to Thursday during business hours. Some evenings and weekends may be required throughout the year, along with work-specific travel.   

Position is remote with limited in-person team meetings and will be located in Louisville, KY. Candidate must be available to support in-person events hosted by the organization in and around Louisville throughout the year.

Compensation:   

Salary range: $50,000-$65,000 based on experience and skillset.

Interested in building up your experience with a nonprofit that uses storytelling and community collaboration to impact public health? Our VISTA will work directly with our team to expand community knowledge and support of (Un)Known Project and efforts focused on creating a lead-free Louisville through work focused on development and communications. VISTA will accomplish this through in-person and virtual engagements, educational sessions and culturally responsive communications strategies, and grant writing and management under the guidance of the IDEAS xLab team.
